I miss being furloughed 😞 Don't get me wrong, I know I'm lucky to be in a stable job, but I took for granted how much spare time I had, and now that I'm working again, I feel like I finish work, then the whole evening speeds by and it's basically time to go to sleep!⁠

I miss lounging in the garden with a good book the most. I used to speed through a book in about two or three days (with regular breaks to eat, do the laundry etc) and it was exciting to finish one book and pick up the next, then check it off my list on the Goodreads app.⁠

These are just three of the books I finished earlier this year. I've actually lent them to my mum but I have a huge TBR pile that I want to try to crack through over the Autumn and Christmas, let's see how I do!⁠

Switching off is actually a lot easier said than done. To think, growing up neither me nor my parents had mobile phones, ipads, laptops, facebook, instagram, twitter... the list goes on.⁠

I got my first mobile phone when I was 11 (my parents were worried about me going to secondary school and my dad got a good offer on mobile phones with his work). It was a clunky old brick that could only make calls and texts, even then it would only save 5 contacts and 5 messages at a time. There weren't even games on it, no such thing as 'snake' and the black-and-green screen was so small it would only let you view 2 lines of text at a time. Only a few other people I knew had one and most days it would sit in my bag or on the side, untouched.⁠

Nowadays, I will easily leave the house without my bag, debit card or keys, but my phone is practically glued to my hand. I don't go anywhere without it. In fact, I've almost forgotten what it's like to not have it!⁠
⁠
There seems to be a constant need to have contact with people, we seek acceptance or 'likes' on a post or image and there's a 'dinging' sound that goes off so often it basically becomes a soundtrack to our daily lives. It's bizarre to me, and yet so normal.⁠
⁠
Today is Digital Detox Day, so I will be switching off (at least, I will attempt to!) and resisting my urges to mindlessly scroll, tap, comment and like, and instead take a moment to get out, breathe, clear my head and be completely in the moment.⁠

I'm trying to drink more water at the moment but I'm seriously struggling! 😥⁠

If you know me, you'll know I'm a HUGE Pepsi Max addict. It quenches my thirst and satisfies my sweet tooth. I know it's bad, and I'm trying to cut down, but water just doesn't hit me in the same way. I find it so difficult to drink.⁠

I watched Down To Earth on Netflix (hosted by Zac Efron) and they actually had a water connoisseur discussing the different flavours and qualities of different waters and I'm intrigued - if you haven't seen it, I recommend it!⁠

Has anyone got any advice for which water tastes best, and how I can drink more throughout the day? 💧

I'm on a strict diet at the moment, so sadly I can't partake in the celebration, but I just couldn't let the day pass without paying tribute to my FAVOURITE take away.⁠

The best fish & chips I've ever had was in Whitby, sitting at the top of the cliff looking out across the sea with my friend (who was going to uni at York at the time). Take me back! 🌊⁠

Autumn is my absolute favourite season, and even though I know it's not technically Autumn yet, I have absolutely no shame in digging out all my Autumnal homeware and getting fully ready for the season.⁠

Why do I love it so much? For me, it's the pumpkin ornaments, crisp reed diffusers, spiced candles, hot chocolates, pumpkin spiced lattes, layered clothing and chunky throws. So cosy!⁠
